SUNDAY BULLETIN - ST PATRICK'S PARISH – OCT 1ST
AND AN EARTHQUAKE !
We seem to be in the middle of
disasters — Texas, Florida, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and other inundated with water
and winds.
This is more than enough but we
throw in an Earthquake in Mexico. One disaster steals the things we need to
feel that these are mine. Thus the hurricanes came and destroyed everything for
so many.
But the earthquake in Mexico is more
the loss of people crushed in the collapse of so many buildings. Between things
(possessions) and lives, there is no comparison.
We can rebuild a house and buy new
things but, unfortunately, the number of people who will die is not
replaceable.
Both are terrible to experience and
we must try our best to respond as we can. Physically some will go and lend a
helping hand to clean up the destruction. Others will do what they can, be it
ever so little.
Here at Saint Patrick Parish I
suggest we be as generous as possible and have a collection and send it, with
all the other Parishes here in San Diego County, to Catholic Charities.
We sent money for Hurricane Relief
but we should now include Earthquake Relief.
It is the right thing to do!
God Bless,
Fr. Michael, O.S.A.
