Methodists on Your Marks...

Rev. John Fanestil re-imagines John Wesley’s famous sermon, “The Marks of a Methodist” … and introduces the Apostello Academy.
Along with other “mainline” churches, the United Methodist Church has been evicted from its place of privilege in the American public square. But our roots are as a faith-based movement working at the margins of prestige and power. Newly appointed as Dean of San Diego School of Christian Studies, John Fanestil shares why he remains optimistic about the future of Methodism, and introduces First Church’s new initiative in faith-based leadership development, the Apostello Academy.
Rev. John Fanestil, Pastor of Faith Cultivation at First UMC San Diego, is a graduate of Dartmouth College, Oxford University, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar, and the Claremont School of Theology. He is now a Dissertation Fellow in the History Department at the University of Southern California.
Tuition: No charge.  A free will offering will be taken in support of scholarships for the Apostello Academy.
