Challenging
Presidential Candidates on Poverty
A
group of about 100 Christian leaders, including NAE President Leith Anderson
and many NAE board members, is inviting presidential candidates to produce a
video stating how they propose to provide help and opportunity to hungry and
poor people in the United States and abroad. Christians who believe government
leaders are called to share God’s concern for the poor and vulnerable want to
know how presidential candidates would approach this essential
responsibility. (read their letter)
Changing
Denominations Common Among Evangelical Leaders
Evangelical
leaders are more likely to have switched denominations than to have stayed in
the same denomination all of their lives. Nearly 60 percent of evangelical
leaders have changed denominations since childhood. "Evangelical traditions
and denominations have more in common than many realize,” NAE President Leith

to Jim Meredith!
Jim
Meredith is the NAE’s 2015 Centurion of the Year, which is an award for leaders
who have exemplified commitment to the ministry of evangelical military
chaplains. David Cyr, Executive Director of the NAE Chaplains Commission, said,
"Jim Meredith’s ministry reflects that of a true disciple of Christ. He
has followed God through a number of different assignments – serving
evangelical chaplains and other service members and giving God the glory.” (read more)
Christian
Student Leadership Conference
College
students from across the country came to Washington, D.C., last month for the
NAE's annual week-long Christian Student Leadership Conference. Highlights
included hearing from Senate Chaplain Barry Black and Sen. Ted Cruz, visiting
the House Floor with Rep. Jim Jordan the morning after the State of the Union
address, and taking part in the March for Life.
