Hamas' hubris (exaggerated pride or self-confidence) caused the suffering of the Gazans. Hamas knew they had lost the war as soon as they started it but their pride precluded surrender. If they had surrendered the war would have ended so very long ago. Hamas sacrificed their own people; human sacrifice - VERY PAGAN
