Transitions

We are experiencing some transitions among our priests and one lay staff member: As you know, Fr. Phil left for San Francisco to be the vocations director for the Order of Saint Augustine in California. St Patrick’s was his first assignment as a transitional deacon and as a priest. He was with us for two and a half years. I will miss his easy-going and gregarious personality. He spent quite a lot of time beginning and cultivating the Young Adult Professional group of the parish. Within the past year, he started a Bible study group called Amici.

Mrs. Eneida Scoby moved to Arizona a couple of days ago. She worked at Saint Patrick’s for 10 years first as assistant director of Catechetical ministries, and soon after as the director of catechetical ministries. Although she was in charge of managing very large confirmation and first communion programs, she learned the name of every student each year. She made a difference in the lives of many students, parents, catechists, and parish staff. Her absence will be truly felt!

Earlier in the year, around February. Fr. Tom Verber, OSA, who was in residence, moved to “Austin House,” an Augustinian friary in South Park. He will resume helping us by presiding at the Saturday morning Mass.

After a year in residence at St Thomas Aquinas Parish in Ojai, CA, Fr. Michael McFadden, OSA will be coming back some time in the summer to be in residence at St Patrick’s. We are happy to welcome back Fr. Michael!

God bless, Fr. Carlos
