Meet Fr. Martin Achi Yusuf, O.S.A.
Dear Parish Family,
With joy and gratitude, I introduce myself to you as I begin my ministry here in the noble parish of St. Patrick, San Diego. I am Fr. Martin Achi Yusuf, O.S.A., an Augustinian priest filled with love for the Church, a passion for education, and a heart ready to serve God’s people.
I was born on October 1st,
1989, in Nigeria, and my journey of faith and formation with the Augustinians
began in 2010. After completing my primary and secondary education in Jos,
Plateau State, I pursued a
Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy at St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Makurdi, and
a Bachelor’s degree in Theology at St. Augustine's Major Seminary, Jos. I later
earned a Diploma in Education from the National Teacher’s Institute in Kaduna.
I made my First Profession of Vows on July 27, 2015, my Solemn Profession on November 13, 2019, was ordained a Deacon on December 23, 2019, and a Priest on September 26, 2020. Since then, I have had the blessing of serving in various pastoral and educational roles, most recently in San Francisco, where I was deeply enriched by the faith of the people I served.
Now, God has brought me here to San Diego, and I am excited to begin this new chapter with you. I bring with me an open heart, a deep appreciation for the liturgy, and a special love for family ministry.
I believe every parish is a family, and I look forward to growing in faith, hope, and love alongside each of you.
Thank you for welcoming me with such warmth in the masses I celebrated last two Sundays. I humbly ask for your prayers as I begin this ministry among you, and know that you are already in mine. May the Lord bless us all in the journey ahead.
In Christ and St. Augustine,
Fr. Martin Achi Yusuf, O.S.A
