3 Years Already with Fr. Carlos

3 Years Already

I came to St Patrick’s as a deacon at the end of January 2016, and so it has been three years already since I have been ministering here at this lively parish. In June of that year I was ordained a priest, and continued serving as associate pastor. Fr. Michael taught me how to do a baptism and a quinceañera Mass. Last year, in July I was named administrator, and officially this Friday, February 15th, by decreed in a letter of our bishop Robert McElroy, I will become pastor.

The pastoral care of this parish is a great task, and so I am very grateful for the support of my Augustinian brothers, especially Father Philip (who quickly learned to preside the Mass in Spanish, and brings me a hamburger when I am swamped with work), Father Michael (who continues to take on several Masses each week), Brother Arturo (who is leading the Hispanic Community), and Father Max (who did all of our baptisms as a deacon last year and continues to help us when he can). We are also blessed with hard-working and conscientious lay staff, who have been very patient with a number of changes, and forgiving of my faults.

I am especially grateful to those of you who have approached me and offered your talents and expertise to help the parish. I am grateful for the new ideas and for the willingness to help carry them out. Your generosity of time, talent, and treasure allows St Patrick’s to be a spiritual home where we can be nourished by the Word and the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist.

Please pray for me, and God bless you.
Fr. Carlos, OSA.
