Dr. Ian Clarke Irish by birth but now a Ugandan
Dr. Ian came at the time, 1987 as a missionary doctor to help. He went to Luwelo triangle, which had been named killing fields of Africa.
“It was pretty devastated. I felt I wanted to be involved in something more meaningful,” he says.
Therefore his voluntary work was much more needed. For two years he treated people under a tree until he got funds and built a small dispensary.
Seven years later, he went for further studies in Europe and when he went back to Uganda, he wanted to engage in sustainable development. He started a private hospital, air ambulance services and a teaching school for nurses. The group employs 7oo people. Although services are private, they’re not only designed for rich people.
