ROOM IN THE
INN
The house here, at Saint
Patrick, definitely has room for one more Augustinian. We have been chosen to
have Deacon Philip Yang, O.S.A., to be assigned here for 6 months as a “temporary” Deacon.
The process is that you
finish up your undergraduate degree and begin to study for your graduate
Theology degree. That usually takes four years of study at Chicago School of
Theology.
Usually then, if
everything goes well, in your last year of studies you are ordained as a “temporary
Deacon.” After 3 to 6 months you then ask to be ordained a priest.
Deacon Philip Yang,
O.S.A., will be working here at Saint Patrick and, sometime in the summer, he
will be ordained an Augustinian priest here with the Province of St. Augustine
in California.
He will be a great help
here doing teaching, and celebrating Baptisms, weddings, preaching, and of
course answering the phone and the door.
We welcome him and hope he
finds his time great preparation for the priesthood to follow.
