FEET WASHED AND HEARTS TOUCHED IN SAN DIEGO
FEET WASHED AND HEARTS TOUCHED RESCUE MISSION...
SAN DIEGO
A simple gesture left many people
overwhelmed with emotions at the San Diego Rescue Mission on Friday morning
when a team of volunteers knelt before residents in recovery programs to wash
their feet.
"It was an amazing
experience," said Yvonne Jackson, 54, who has been a resident in the
downtown mission's year-long recovery program since April 16.
"I felt honored and
so grateful that somebody took time out of their life to wash my feet. It was
humbling for me, and I'm sure for them."
Jackson said she has used
drugs and alcohol since she was 16, but is now sober as a resident in the
mission's program.
"I'm here to get an
intimate relationship with God," she said.
