Gerald Hiestand and Todd Wilson like to tell the story of a girl and her father strolling through a church graveyard. The daughter reads the headstone inscriptions out loud to her father. She comes upon one that lists "Pastor Theologian." She pauses, then announces, "Papa, they have two people buried here!"

Doug
teaches pastoral theology and preaching at Beeson Divinity School in
Birmingham, Alabama. He pastored First Presbyterian Church of San Diego
for fourteen years. He has served churches in Denver, Colorado,
Bloomington, Indiana, and Toronto, Canada. Before becoming a pastor, he
taught at Tyndale Seminary in Toronto for seven years. He has a BA in
Biblical Studies and an MA in New Testament from Wheaton College. His
PhD is from the University of St. Michael’s College, Toronto.
