UrbanLife says goodbye to a hero

UrbanLife San Diego
Saying Goodbye to a Hero
December 30, 2014

The UrbanLife community is reeling from the sudden loss of our great friend Nancy Brusch. She was a hero to us, radiating a relentless positivity and unending energy, all fueled by her passion for Jesus.
UrbanLife was born in the backyard of Nancy and Rick’s house.  Many of us remember those early BBQ’s with Romin on the grill and Steve Simar getting dressed into some awkward costume for an upcoming skit.  It was there in her backyard that Nancy fell in love with a group of young inner-city women and the Spirit of God began His work.

Nancy served faithfully as an UrbanLife leader throughout the next 5 years (even when driving at night became difficult J).  Joan Medcalf and Nancy started a small group that would be transformative in the lives of those same young women.  Together they led that group for 4 years.  She poured her heart and soul into those young people.
Nancy and Rick eventually took a young woman that they met through UrbanLife into their home and loved her like she was one of their own.  Her life was a living vision of what following Jesus looks like and a beautiful expression of the Kingdom of God.
Nancy, thank you for being a hero in our community. We celebrate your life of sacrifical love and will miss you dearly.

Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.
Hebrews 13:7 (NLT)
