Residents will help keep San Diego's watershed healthy by clearing out canyons at 17 City Heights location. Put on by I Love a Clean San Diego 9 a.m. to noon.

Oct. 18: Lowrider Gospel Fest
The annual lowrider and hotrod show is designed to reach out to at-risk youth and low-income families, offering access to various social services. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the City Heights Urban Village. 

Faster Emergency Response in Encanto, But Not Mid-City
The city recently added two-man fire engine crews to Encanto to speed up emergency response times there. It's worked. But solutions for City Heights, which now has the city's slowest response times, are slow going. A fire station for Home Avenue is delayed.




Fast-Food Workers in City Heights Strike For $15 An Hour
City Heights fast-food workers joined a nationwide strike to call for better wages. 

At one point during Thursday morning's protest in City Heights, strikers were sitting in the roadway on University Avenue over Interstate 15.
