"Undie 500"
'Undie
500' to provide for urgent orphan need
Posted: 25 May, 2011
USA (MNN) -- Underwear. What
does that have to do with mission work, you ask? Well it has everything to do
with the Orphan Outreach
ministry "Undie 500" which kicked off today. They are collecting
underwear and socks for mission teams to take all over the world to needy
orphans. Tiffany Taylor with Orphan Outreach says the need is huge. "Being
able to provide new underwear and socks [is important]; I mean it's a hygiene
issue, and it's also just a practicality issue. It lets them know that they're
not forgotten." Hand-in-hand with passing out underwear, teams also share
the Gospel. "Everything we do at Orphan Outreach is rooted in letting
these children know that they are deeply loved by their Lord and helping them
develop a personal relationship with Christ." Churches can help by having
underwear collection drives. Some even get kids to join in the fun with youth
program fundraisers. "It's a little funny: a pair of underwear, but it's
something that's so needed." Want to donate some undies? Call our hotline
