On the morning of Thursday, April 11, the Holy Father traveled from
Barcelona to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a Spanish archipelago off the
coast of Morocco, to continue the third and final leg of his apostolic
journey to Spain. At the Port of Arguineguín, the Pope met with migrant
reception organizations and migrants themselves. He also listened to the
testimonies of various individuals, to which he responded with the
address we present here, translated into English. After the address, the
Pope blessed a cross made from pieces of wood from the small boats used
by migrants to reach the Canary Islands and then cast a floral offering
into the sea, before which he paused in prayer. This has been the most
significant address on migration not only in Spain but so far in 2026.
