Tifereth Israel also recruited a new spiritual leader, and on September 19, 1948, Rabbi Monroe Levens delivered his first sermon at the dedication of the new sanctuary on Howard Street in North Park. President Harry Truman wrote, "Accept my very best wishes for a most successful dedication."
