The Gospel lesson from Matthew 4:12-17 gives a brief account of the beginning of the preaching ministry of Jesus. It ends with the words: "From that time on Jesus began to preach, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near'." "The Greek word for repent, "Metanoeite"* means literally, "about face" or "look in the other direction". Like the military command, "about face", it is an imperative -- "do it now!" Join Plymouth Congregational Church this Sunday to hear an exciting message of repentance. *Metanoeite is the transliteration of the Greek word for repent. Specifically, it means "to turn one's life around." Expositionally, it means to turn from carnality to Christianity as personified in Jesus and prescribed in the Bible.
