In the wake of the retirement of eight-year board member Beth Swersie, Arthur Schwartz was elected to the Presidency of the North Park Community Association at the June 27th board
meeting. Arthur and his wife have been North Park residents on Pershing Avenue for almost 18 years, and he has been a community activist all that time. Among his early campaigns was one that addressed a methamphetamine lab in the neighborhood. Arthur was awarded with the Channel 10 Leadership award for his efforts in rallying community members, the city councilmember and police department to resolve the problem.Other officers were re-elected for the 2007-2008 term of the Board: Vice President Michele Brown, Secretary Jody Surowiec, and Treasurer Sharon Turner. The NPCA looks forward to a fresh commitment to Neighborhood Pride, Communication, and Advocacy with these returning officers and a new President.
