"Living Our True Identity" Sunday at Plymouth Church

The sermon title is, "Living Our True Identity" and examines the story in Luke 8:26-39 in which Jesus heals a Demon-possessed man who really didn't know who he was until Christ touched him with his healing power.

The townspeople were amazed to find this man whom they had feared for so long clean, dressed, sitting at the feet of Jesus and "clothed in his right mind". In his letter to Galatians (3:23-29) St. Paul proclaims that something like this happens to everyone who comes under the influence of Christ -- that once freed from the bondage of sin and brought under God's grace, we "now are the children of God". We know our identity, of course. But on this fourth Sunday in the season of Pentecost we are encouraged to deal with the troublesome question about our life style -- are we living this new identity that Christ gives us?
