Bishop
Barry Knestout of Richmond, Virginia, urged vigilance in child
protection, and Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago posted a video message
about the month's observance on behalf of U.S. bishops.
In
response to a shooting at a Mexican archeological site that left two
dead and 13 injured, Bishop Guillermo Escobar urged people to look to
Jesus Christ and return to Christian values.
Volunteers
are "the backbone of the work of the Catholic Charities network across
the country," said CCUSA Vice President for Communications Kevin
Brennan.
On
