The
Supreme Court of Finland has acquitted Päivi Räsänen over her 2019
Bible verse tweet and found her guilty of hate speech over a pamphlet
she wrote more than 20 years ago.
Archbishop
Timothy Broglio said: “The chaplain serves as a reminder of the holy
and the dignity of the human person and leads worship. Any other
question is secondary to those purposes.”
In
the case, several of the country’s bishops stated that “we are not
dealing with a terminal illness but rather with deep wounds that cry out
for attention, treatment, and hope.”
