The
U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom says Egypt should be
placed on a religious freedom watch list after a Christian man was
sentenced to five years in prison for critiquing Islam.
The
temporary protected status (TPS) for Haitian migrants is set to expire
on Feb. 3. Catholic bishops are asking the Trump administration to
reconsider the plan and extend those protections.
Representatives
of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops joined an international
delegation to the West Bank, where they said conditions remain
“catastrophic.”
The
Italian bishops are opposing a pending bill that would legitimize
assisted suicide and are also calling for greater investment in
palliative care and support for the sick.
Archbishop
Timothy Broglio of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA,
discussed the role of military chaplains, the the restoration of chapel
contracts, and just war doctrine.
