A
Catholic priest who worked with Alex Pretti, the man shot and killed by
federal agents in Minnesota, said he was known for his “kindness” and
“gentleness.”
According
to local media reports, armed men in pickup trucks stormed a soccer
field in the small town of Loma de Flores in the afternoon of Jan. 25
and opened fire.
Los
Angeles Archbishop José H. Gómez praised legislation that would provide
protections for people lacking legal immigration status, saying it
“should be the beginning of a conversation.”
Exiled
Nicaraguan Bishop Silvio Báez said this is not a time for the Church to
be silent and that freedom and democracy are getting closer for the
Latin American country.
