LOVING OUR NEIGHBORSUrbanLife Mission Week 2010 Recap
By Romin Irani
It is always a great thing to serve people in the name of Jesus. But it's an even greater thing to do it alongside our high school friends. Last April, over 40 students gave up their entire Spring Break to serve their neighbors in San Diego. Students participated at different projects all over San Diego including distributing supplies to under resourced families through City of Refuge, organizing donations and feeding the homeless at the San Diego Rescue Mission, running a VBS day Leo and Joey cleaning the bathroom at the SD Rescue Mission Thrift Store

camp for children in the neighborhood at Orange Ave Community Church, and remodeling the weight room at Crawford High School. Though challenging on the brain and the body, the entire week was life-giving to all involved. Even after just one day of hard work, students began to understand the blessing in serving others. You can only imagine what one week of service can do to one person. Even to this day, students cannot stop talking about their projects and the impact that the week made on them. We praise God that some students have even continued to volunteer at the project sites after Mission Week because of the meaningful relationships they formed at their sites. We believe that is a testament to what God can do when we live out his commands to love Him and love our neighbors! Thank you for all of your prayers and support. We had an AWESOME week!
