HEPATITIS A

San Diego is encountering one of the fastest outbreaks of Hepatitis A in the United States.  To date, over 395 people have contracted the virus which has resulted in 15 deaths.  Kimberly is from the County of San Diego and will be our featured speaker to provide an overview of the current outbreak.

Our Mentorship Program is officially launched!  In the month of August we hosted our first Volunteer Mentor Training.  Out of that training, we were able to form five mentorship relationships, with mentees from Connections Housing and the Ladle Fellowship.  These five pairs are meeting regularly and getting to know each other.  A couple of them have already started working on concrete goals.  We are blessed to see the work and prayer that has gone into this program start to come to fruition.  What we need now is more mentors.  Before we can more broadly promote mentorship at PATH and other homeless providers, we need a larger group of available mentors so that we can find the best possible matches for our mentees.  If you would like to become a mentor, or if you would consider promoting the Mentorship Program at your church or organization, please contact Lyssa Melonakas.

The DIBT Leadership team will be meeting soon to review ways that DIBT can better serve our Homeless Outreach Service Providers.  Our goal is to be of service to our HOSP's with enhanced collaboration and praying for each others services.  In the next 30 days you'll be invited to join us for a renewed effort of Doing It Better Together!

Friday 7 PM September 22nd: Free concert from The San Diego Street Choir! Our BlesSING Benefit Concert will be the Street Choir's biggest gig yet!  All proceeds will go to music and arts education at the Monarch School, a K-12 school designed for kids impacted by homelessness.
